For those of you who may not know, Bob has been stricken with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He has been in ICU at WakeMed in Raleigh since February 10th and has been on a ventilator and feeding tube since February 14. A week later the doctors did a tracheostomy, so he is at present unable to speak. He is starting to show some small signs of recovery in the last day or so, but we have a very long road ahead of us. All indications are that recovery will occur over a period of several months to a year or more.
there is a website you can visit to receive daily updates from his daughter Stacey and leave messages for Bob in the Guestbook section.
We have decided to cancel this year's tournament. It was to be the 30th annual event, and Bob had wanted it to be a very special year. We had asked Bob if he would like others to organize and put on the tournament for him, and he vehemently said "NO". (rather he shook his head "no")
I am sure you all know how much work he and I put into the planning and we all know how much he loves doing it. We as a family have decided to go along with Bob's whishes and cancel this year....the 30th RDU Classic can be held in 2009!! And it will be very special.
As always, any cards and letters can be sent to Bob at home. I will read them to him when I visit.

The Philly Widgets meet the second Tuesday of each month at the Ramada Inn, south of the Airport on route 291.
This is a buffet Lunch where we exchange the latest information on whose where and how they are doing. The stories of the past are well worth the cost of the lunch. Looking forward to seeing you there.
